Coming Together...For The Good Of The Country!

For the history buffs out there, I’m reminded of the Paratroopers that were deployed at the onset of the D-Day Invasion. Being that the technology was not up to today’s standards, many landed miles away from their assigned landing zones. To say this proved problematic to the operation is putting it gently!

Fast forward to today, we’ve technically fallen from the “Fiscal Cliff” (though many would argue we fell long ago), and even with today’s improved technology, I suspect we’ll miss the landing zone once again – unless of course you planned on a scattered landing in France for a second time!

If not already, we’re well on our way to becoming a European type society complete with nationalized health care, a plethora of government entitlements, huge national debt, and limited (if any) influence on world affairs. All that’s missing or two months of mandated vacation per year!

“But, we haven’t fallen yet. There’s a deal in the making.”

Yep, our elected representatives were up until the wee hours of the night to work things out. But, the deal will be one sided…taxes only. The real work will be put off for later (if ever) because the people we’ve entrusted don’t have the "kahunas" to actually do their jobs! Forget their constituents, 2014 is a long time off and all will be forgotten by then!

Of course that argument doesn’t hold true for the handful of so called Republicans that will stick to principles (as they were elected to do) even as they are subjected by “enhanced interrogation techniques” by Boehner, McConnell and their cohorts…for the good of the country, of course!

Pay attention to those Republicans who vote no, because they are the only ones in my opinion deserving of re-election! I use the word Republican loosely, because that party has ceased to exist in the eyes of many.

Call them what you want, “Teabagger” I believe is the word of choice on the today, but they are the only representatives who, despite the Washington gamesmanship, actually fulfill their obligation by promoting the will of those who placed them in office…not the whims of the Republican Party as it exists now.

Yes, a deal will come to be, but it will require both sides of the aisle to co-mingle for it to pass. Republicans and Democrats will come together for the greater good, or as I see it, Republicans and Democrats proving they are now nothing more than one in the same.

The “Teabaggers,” for now, are simply a thorn in the side of all and must be put in their place. The Tea Party after all is simply a dying concept as one pundit put it…not a national party.

Ironically, it’s the so called Republicans that have carved out their place…and it’s not so different than the Democrats. Obama won “fair and square” so now it’s time to fall into line!

Maybe it's now time to move from a concept to an actual party?

Keep this post in mind when a teary eyed John Boehner appears sometime later this week and explains the Republicans had no choice but to do the President’s bidding to prevent the country from reverting back into a recession. Though, many would argue we never recovered from the last.

Happy New Year to you and yours…you’re now full-fledged “European-Americans.” Sorry “African-Americans,” the new hyphenated title takes precedence.

Let’s just hope our trip to Europe is short lived. Perhaps by 2014 we’ll all realize a vacation to Orlando is just as fulfilling. And maybe, just maybe, hyphenated titles will no longer be necessary, and simply “American” will do!
